
Yesterday Microsoft launched a new blog dedicated to providing the public with all the latest news from the Windows 8 Development team. There hasnt been too much said on Microsoft’s side regarding their next OS but this blog has opened the flood gates and it now seems they are giving the oppurtunity for an open dialog with partners and developers to provide feedback.
Steven Sinofsky (Windows President) posted the first article on the blog. In it he admitted that the company had failed some what regarding the communication with its user base regarding the upcoming OS
Some people express frustration about how little we’ve communicated about Windows 8 so far.
Back in June we saw a demo of the Windows 8 Tablet UI, one of the striking changes to the new OS was its layout and is likely to be the most talked about subject between the Windows Development team and the public. Steven Sinofsky pointed out
Today more than two out of three PCs are mobile (laptops, netbooks, notebooks, tablets, slates, convertibles, etc.). Nearly every PC is capable of wireless connectivity. Screen sizes range from under 10″ to wall-sized screens and multiple HD screens. Storage has jumped from megabytes to terabytes and has moved up to the cloud. The appearance of touch-screen mobile phones with the rich capabilities they bring, have together changed the way we all view computing.
It was also noted that Windows 8 will work on both Intel processors as well as the newer ARM SoC’s.
Rumors suggest that the public beta build for Windows 8 could be unveiled during CES 2012 and that the final build will reach the market in Autumn of next year.
