It seems the momentum around Windows 8 tablets is not just limited to PC and Processor manufacturers. Even telecom carriers are joining the fray. And in this battle of tablets, AT&T seems to be partnering with Microsoft. AT&T is holding a Developer Summit in Las Vegas on 8th and 9th of January. This summit is just before the start of annual CES (Consumer Electronics Show). One of the sessions in the agenda that is generating excitement is about Windows 8 tablets charged with !
As per the agenda, Qualcomm will showcase the power of their Snapdragon chip. Developers can look forward to a Snapdragon Developer program that enables creating rich Windows 8 apps. According to many experts, the emphasis on availability of diverse apps is one of the main focus areas of Windows 8. Another agenda also includes showcasing the intuitive elegance of Metro interface and the collaboration of AT&T and Microsoft in making connected apps. No wonder then the speakers are Jon Sharp of AT&T, who is managing third-party development partner relationships and Laurent Thorpe of Qualcomm, Senior director of developer relations.
The words “connected apps” and Microsoft and AT&T’s partnership in “developing connected applications easier” are creating enough buzz. Speculations are rife if this has got to do something with the new ‘Windows 8 Contracts functionality’, which focuses on “device connected scenarios” – note taking, print services and cloud storage. The next few days should reveal more details about Windows 8.
